Check out this video that was shot at ROCK’s home opener! Our good friends, The Rough Customers, played halftime and had a videographer there. There are some great action shots of ROCK vs Dixie Derby Girls’ Rocket City Rollers!

The Rough Customers wrote and perform ROCK’s introduction song, which is part of the intro to this video!

ROCK is excited to be headed to Huntsville, AL tomorrow to take on RAD (Rolling Arsenal of Derby)!

Another derby bout which means more photos! This was a really good bout close scores and a blow out. i love it when that happens! I’m also helping out a friend with a documentary project and she decided to do it on Roller Derby. So guess who was shooting video as well as photos…thats right this chick. DUN DUN DUN!

ROCK Potential Fresh Meat, Meet and Greet:

The Rollergirls of Central Kentucky are recruiting dedicated and determined teammates. If you’re interested in learning more about roller derby and ROCK, we invite you to attend our upcoming events.

Meet & Greet
April 8th, 6:30
Come watch us hit the track for an intraleague scrimmage. Stay after to meet the skaters and ask questions.

Bootcamps
April 13th & 14th, 3-4pm
Our bootcamps are designed for all levels and give everyone a chance to learn basic skills to prepare for tryouts. Cost is $10 per session.

Tryouts
Time to lace up those skates and see if you have what it takes to be a Rollergirl of Central Kentucky.
April 27th, 3pm

All events will be held at the Bread Box (warehouse behind West Sixth Brewery). Email rockandrollergirls@gmail.com for more information or to register. Must be 18 years old.

Roller Derby is a DIY sport. It’s for the skaters by the skaters, and while this is AMAZING, it’s also expensive. The Pebbles are the junior division of the Rollergirls of Central Kentucky (R.O.C.K.) We began in April of 2012, and now have recruited 15 skaters. We’ve been training twice a week, and we’re now ready to join the Junior Roller Derby Association and start BOUTING! It’s so exciting. BUT, we have several expenses that need to be paid (registration, insurance, uniform shirts for the girls, etc), and we don’t have all that we need on our own. We’ll make you proud, we promise. Help us achieve our dreams.

Do you run a business? The Rollergirls of Central Kentucky will be hosting the First Annual R.O.C.K. Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 1-6 p.m. at The Breadbox. Vendor space is available for $35 per 6’x3’ table or $50 for a 6’x3’ table with electrical cord/outlet availability. Tables must be reserved by November 20. ROCK Annual Bootcamps and Tryouts for Prospective Fresh Meat (PFM):

The Rollergirls of Central Kentucky are excited to be starting another round of bootcamps and tryout! There will be three 4-hour bootcamps and one week of tryouts!

Bootcamp 1 will be Saturday, October 27 9:00am-1:00pm

Bootcamp 2 will be Saturday, November 10 9:00am- 1:00pm

Bootcamp 3 will be Saturday, November 17 9:00am-1:00pm

Tryouts will be Saturday, December 1 9:00am-1:00pm

If you’re interested in participating in one of these bootcamps and/or tryouts, please sign up before October 15th! Check out this link for more information and signups!

ROCK lost a dear friend and supporter on Thursday, July 19. Steven Scott Robertson, husband to our very own Junk Drawer, passed away after a tenacious battle with testicular cancer. His passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all of ROCK and the central Kentucky derby community. See his obituary here : Steven Scott ROBERTSON

Calendar: Ideafestival University Title: “Let it Roll: Roller Derby 101” When: 07.25.12 06:00 PM - 07:30 PM Location: The BreadBox and West Sixth Brewing Company, 501 West 6th Street, Lexington, KY 40508 Description: Creativity can take many forms. Learn how several women in Lexington have enriched their lives and careers by forming, joining, and competing in the Rollergirls of Central Kentucky (ROCK). See a ROCK scrimmage, ask questions, and receive a certificate of participation complete with your very own Roller Derby name. This course takes “Just Do It” to a whole new level.

Facilitators: Members of ROCK
Bio: Sugar Shock, Kitty O’Doom, Rainbow Smite and Robin Souls are Central Kentucky residents who compete with the Rollergirls of Central Kentucky. We’d tell you about their day jobs, but why bother?

The price of this class ($15) includes one drink ticket at West Sixth Brewing Company, including tax and gratuity. West Sixth Brewing Company is a new craft brewery in Lexington “where the beer list is never the same but is always local.”

It is recommended that participants arrive at 5:45 p.m. The class will start promptly at 6:00 p.m.
